Jacob Staten Wins the Southern Showdown for the Third Consecutive Year
Three years. Three wins. One incredible run.
Jacob Staten added another chapter to his Southern Showdown story Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Florence Motor Speedway, capturing the 75-lap Southern Showdown for the third consecutive year.
The day didn't start the way Jacob and the team had hoped.
During practice, Jacob struggled to find the speed and balance he needed in the car. His fastest lap of the session was a 19.919, leaving plenty of work to do before qualifying.
Then, just as the teams were preparing to continue the day's schedule, thunderstorms moved into the area. The weather delay pushed qualifying back and ultimately forced officials to scratch the scheduled heat races.
With the field set by qualifying, Jacob put down a 19.460, earning a 4th-place starting position for the 75-lap feature, a strong starting spot in a competitive field at a track where track position can be especially important.
Once the green flag dropped, Jacob began working his way toward the front. He moved into third by Lap 3, advanced to second by Lap 6, and by Lap 10, Jacob had taken the lead.
From there, he never looked back.
The Southern Showdown featured caution after caution, creating multiple restarts and opportunities for the field behind him. But each time Jacob returned to the green flag, he maintained control of the race and kept the competition behind him.
When the checkered flag finally flew, Jacob had secured another Southern Showdown victory, his third in a row.
Winning a race once is an accomplishment. Winning the same race three consecutive years takes consistency, preparation, determination, and the ability to perform under pressure.
Saturday's victory was another example of Jacob's ability to overcome a difficult start to the day, make the necessary adjustments, and find a way to get the job done when it mattered most.
The entire Jacob Staten Racing team would like to thank South Street Auto Care, Auto Barn Classic Cars, and Race Fit Academy for their continued support and belief in Jacob's racing journey.
Three consecutive Southern Showdown victories is something this team will always be proud of and we're excited to see what comes next.
